Local Area

Shepton Mallet is ideally placed to use as a base for a large number of tourist attractions, National Trust houses. Lovely villages and the Royal Bath and West Showground which are all within easy reach of here.

For your information we’ve put below a list of our favourite ones here:

    • Longleat House and Safari Park is about 20ins drive and a fabulous day out!
    • Cheddar Gorge is a 20 minute drive away and is a day full of how amazing Mother Nature is.
    • Wookey Hole is about 15 minutes away and a fabulous fun filled place to go.
    • The Royal Bath and West Showground is 5 minutes away and offers a range of shows and events all year round including their famous antique and flea markets – well worth a look.
    •  Designer Shopping Emporium, ‘Kilver Court’ is set in a beautiful location just down the road and has outlets such as Mulberry, LK Bennet, Toast etc as well as a couple of great cafe’s and a gorgeous garden open to the public.
    • The historic cities of  Bath and Bristol are all close by and are definitely worth a day out to get your culture fix or to do some serious shopping. (Tip – Check out the Harbour side in Bristol for some cool bars and restaurants.)
    • We are also 4 miles from the ancient Cathedral city of Wells, 8 miles from Glastonbury and it’s famous Tor, and 10 miles from Street & the famous Clark’s Village factory outlet shops.
    • Of course if you stay during the last week of June the hugely popular Glastonbury Festival will be taking place.  The festival site in the village of Pilton is approx 3 miles away so on a good day you’ll be able to hear the music.
    • If you’re lucky enough to stay during the middle 2 weeks of November we recommend that you check out our colourful local carnival as this is fabulous. The carnival is the biggest illuminated carnival in Europe and is really quite something to be seen!   Why not come along – it’s free!
    • If you love the outdoors then there are plenty of fabulous footpaths and trails to take advantage of the great Mendip countryside.
